Fire Truck Description

One or two players drive a fire engine through a maze of winding city streets, avoiding parked cars. In one-player mode, a person may drive the front or back of the fire truck. In a two-person game, the front player sits and drives the rig while the rear player stands and steers the trailer.

Cabinet Information

The cabinet is comprised of a seat section attached to stand-up cabinet. The cabinet has a steering wheel mounted down low to accomodate the sitting player and the second steering wheel is mounted behind the seat. The right side of the cabinet accomodates entry for the sit-down player.

Game Introduction

Drive the truck through a random maze of streets. The game is played for points and extended play. Player rankings are Sorry, So-So, Good or Ace. A select button at the front and back choose either hard or easy tracks. The game has an overhead view. The game uses inverted video during extended play.

When in one-player mode and the person is steering the trailer, the computer drives the front. In one- and two-player modes, massive oversteering can affect the whole truck and cause a crash. The front player has a horn button and back player has a bell button. Neither sound buttons serve any purpose in game play.

Game Play

Players simply earn points by driving. Extended play is awarded for for earning a high enough score. The fire truck never reaches a fire or any specific destination!

VAPS Arcade Census

GAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETY

Uncommon - There are 16 known instances of Fire Truck owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 13 of them are original dedicated machines, and 3 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Of the 57,121 video games (3,420 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 8 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records.

Wanted - There are 7 VAPS members currently looking for Fire Truck.

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range.
