DescriptionThe player controls a Tarzan-like jungle man who must swing across vines in the forest, swim through a crocodile-infested river, jump and duck rocks while climbing a hill and rescue his woman from a pair of barbaric cannibals.Know anything more about this game? Game IntroductionThe game has four screens: a forest of swinging vines, a river of crocodiles, a hill of falling rocks and a camp where two native African warriors dance around striking their spears up and down where our hero's woman dangles above a boiling cauldron.Game PlayOn the first level, the player presses the fire button to make the Tarzan character jump from vine to vine. Since the jump range is limited, you will need to wait until the time is right before leaping towards the next vine. Avoid the monkeys who can knock the player character from the vine.On the second level, use the joystick to move Tarzan around the screen in order to avoid the hungry crocodiles. Press the fire button to stab the enemies with the knife, but only when their mouths are partly or fully closed. Avoid the ascending air bubbles as these will trap your character and invetably drag you into an approaching crocodile. Be sure to return to the surface periodically so Tarzan can catch a quick breath, otherwise he will drown. For the third level, push the joystick left or right to have Tarzan run either slower or faster. Press the fire button to jump over the small rocks. To avoid the larger boulders, you must either jump, run or duck by pulling down on the joystick. On the fourth level, Tarzan must jump over and between the natives while their spears are down. After that, Tarzan must jump toward the woman when she has been lowered enough for him to reach her. This becomes more difficult as the levels progress since another native later appears on the tree nearby throwing spears directly at the player character(one at a time). After the woman has been rescued, it says "Congratulations!" and then a cute intermission plays featuring Tarzan and his woman together along with a message saying "I Love You!" followed by the woman kissing Tarzan. Afterwards, the levels begin again, but with an increased difficulty. Scarcity in collections (VAPS.org)Very Common - There are 51 known instances of this game owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 26 of them are original dedicated machines, 4 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards have been placed in another game cabinet, and 21 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.Of the 42,694 video games (3,154 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 28 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records. Wanted - There is one VAPS member currently looking for this game. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operatos might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaThe game features the familiar Tarzan yell at certain parts of the game. Taito later released a nearly identical game called Jungle Hunt after the trustees of Edgar Rice Burroughs' estate, the people who own the rights to Tarzan, sued them for copyright infringement for using the character's likeness. In Jungle Hunt, the Tarzan character was replaced with a jungle explorer clad in a pith-helmet and safari jacket. On the first level, the vines were replaced by ropes. Also, there is no Tarzan yell at all throughout the game.
