Cabinet Information

A standard Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man cabinet can be upgraded to include a menu button and a custom marquee with the Multi Pac logo.

Cheats, Tricks and Bugs

On Multi Pac version 1.4, Game #9, Namco (SIL), the following cheats apply. During game play, pressing Start 2P speeds-up Pac-Man. Pressing Start 1P makes Pac-Man invincible to monsters. (This was a mistake by the patcher [the Sil]. When he published this patch, he forgot to pull the cheat/test mode out of the Romset.)

Conversion

The conversion kit is easily installed by removing a number of ICs and replacing them with the Multi Pac board and daughter boards. An adverage installation should take less than 30 minutes.

Game Introduction

This conversion kit includes the following Pac-Man games: original, fast, plus, plus fast, Puckman, Hanglyman, mod[ified], Pac-Man After Dark, Namco (Sil), Pacmini2, Pengoman, Pac-Man 3D, and Piranha. The Ms. Pac-Man games are: original, fast, plus, plus fast, Ms. Pac Attacks, Ms. Pac R.I.P., and Ms. Indy Pac. Also incuded are Eyes, Crush Roller, and Lizard Wizard.

Common - There are 27 known instances of Multi Pac owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 6 of them are original dedicated machines, 4 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 17 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Of the 57,098 video games (3,420 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 22 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records.

Wanted - We currently do not know of any VAPS members that have gotten around to adding this game to their wish list. The wish-list system is fairly new (not all VAPS members have filled one out) and there are probably a number of collectors who might purchase this game if offered one at the right price. There are 2 VAPS members looking for Multi Pac board sets.

For Sale - There is one VAPS member with a Multi Pac machine for sale. There is one VAPS member with an extra Multi Pac circuit board for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts.

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range.

Technical

The original Z80 processor is moved from the original boardset to the Multi Pac board and various chips are replaced / removed. It is concievable that a boardset with bad ROMs could be repaired by installing this kit because of the extent of the upgrade.

Fixes

Earlier revisions of the board had flaws that would cause corrupt graphics and unplanned bridging of different games. Very few units were produced with that flaw and a replacement chip was provided quickly.
