NFL Football DescriptionYou are rather like the Head Coach. Choose the plays then watch the players run those plays.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationDedicated stand-up has a red Marquee with NFL Football written across it. It also has a red football player at the end of the writing. The front of the box has a Big NFL emblem on the base of the unit. Each side of the box is blue and consists of a football player carrying the ball and avoiding a tackle from another player.Game PlayAfter the coin toss, you would select your play from the playbook. Once both the offense and defense selected their plays, the videodisc would take over and show scenes from the game to match the plays that were chosen.MiscellaneousThis game used live footage from a Raiders / Chargers football game. There was also an upgrade to the game that used footage from a Dallas / Redskins game. For each play selection, there were eight possible filmed segments, each having two different soundtracks for a total of over 800 different video combinations. There was a similar laser disc version of this game that was created for the Halcyon System.SEE ALSO: http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/games/pages/nfl.asp CAPS/VAPS Arcade CensusThere are 6,492 members of the Classic Arcade Preservation Society / Video Arcade Preservation Society, 3,731 whom participate in our arcade census project of games owned, wanted, or for sale. Alternate Cabinet Imageshttp://www.atarihq.com/museum/coinops/games/nflbally.jpgTechnicalCPU: Z80This game follows the standard MCRIII board set wiring (e.g. Discs Of Tron, Journey), but it requires two additional board sets: a Squawk & Talk MCRII and a I.P.U. board. TriviaThis was the first arcade game that had the option to include a paper dollar bill acceptor.FixesThe most common problem with these games is the disc player. It uses a needle to read the discs which is prone to damage. If you can find one, replace the needle and this change will more often then not solve your problem.Another common problem is a worn out function motor drive belt, which is evident if the player will not unload the disc from the caddy or if the player makes a constant whirling sound when powered up, with the access door failing to open.
