DescriptionManeuver your ship through a grid, avoiding and destroying Targ ram-ships for points. The deadly Spectar Smuggler appears after a period of time, shoot it for bonus points. Simple graphics, but gameplay is fast and furious. Lightning reflexes are required.Know anything more about this game? ConversionA person can convert to Spectar by simply doing a ROM swap.Game PlayYour ship (the "Wummel") travels through a 9 x 9 grid of yellow squares (the "Crystal City") avoiding and shooting the ten red Targ ramships. Each Targ shot is worth ten points, this climbs to 20 on the second level, 30 on the third, and so on. At random a siren will sound, and the Spectar released into the Crystal City, shooting it scores 100-500 points. Clearing all Targs from a level scores 1000 bonus on the first level, 2000 on the second, 3000 on the third, etc. With each level, the Targs get faster and smarter.Scarcity in collections (VAPS.org)Uncommon - There are 11 known instances of this game owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 6 of them are original dedicated machines, 0 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards have been placed in another game cabinet, and 5 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.Of the 42,694 video games (3,154 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 10 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records. Wanted - We currently do not know of any VAPS members that have gotten around to adding this game to their wish list. The wish-list system is fairly new (not all VAPS members have filled one out) and there are probably a number of collectors who might purchase this game if offered one at the right price. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operatos might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaThe game was sublicensed to Centuri, who manufactured it in a cocktail version.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Targ Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Exidy .
