Running the skater into a concrete abutment wastes 2 or 3 seconds. The skater may whine, but you only lose 35K in bonus points. One good hit in the pipe will score 3 or 4 times that SO, the occasional fatal wreak wont harm your overall score much. The board steering the skater handles a lot like a snowboard. How sharply the skater turns is a function of the angle the board is pointing, the amount the board is edged, and the sheer force applied. Its very realistic in that regard. Getting aggro will improve your score. But, the board associated mechanical stuff takes a beating seems to require a lot of maintenance.The skateboard controller response is realistic enough that anyone who rides any kind of board will like it. At first, as you get better, the duration of the game increases. Once you can consistently complete the entire course, by then youre hooked from then on, the games get shorter, and your tokens get sucked up quicker The faster you finish, the higher your bonus.The key to really BIG scores is to do jumps, grinds tricks in quick succession, without pausing or crashing. The resulting combination trick is worth many times the score of the individual tricks done separately. The barrels in the course arent merely obstacles they are positioned so that grinding them will keep the string of tricks going.There are 6 skaters to choose from, plus another secret character who rides a surfboard.There are 2 courses to choose from, plus a secret skate park.

At the character selection screen if you press the left button three times, then the right button three time, and finally continually push the left button untill the new Surfing character appears.
