G Darius DescriptionA new twist on the standard 2D shoot-em-up genre. All the backgrounds and enemies are in 3-D, and the unique "capture ball" system allows the player to capture almost any enemy craft and use their powers.Know anything more about this game? Game PlayThe format of this game is much like the previous installments of the Darius series. The Capture Ball system was actually introduced in Darius Gaiden but was only used to a minimal extent. Captured enemies can either be detonated like a "bomb" in most games of this type, damaging all enemies nearby. Alternatively, they can be used to fire a special "Alpha Beam" which cuts through everything but gold-colored objects and bosses. Each boss has the capability of firing its own version of this beam at the player. When both beams meet they will interrupt each other's path. Depending on how rapidly the player presses the Fire button, one beam will grow and overtake the other. Very dramatic!VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYUncommon - There are 14 known instances of G Darius owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 14 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - We currently do not know of any VAPS members that have gotten around to adding this game to their wish list. The wish-list system is fairly new (not all VAPS members have filled one out) and there are probably a number of collectors who might purchase this game if offered one at the right price. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaThe names of all the stages in this game begin with the letter "G."eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the G Darius Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Taito.
