The pinouts for the board set are identical to Mat Mania and Tag Team Wrestling.

Game Introduction

This is a standard wrestling beat-em-up game. The game is basically a two-player version of Mat Mania.

Game Play

Use a combination of the Punch and Kick buttons to perform a variety of wrestling holds and counter-holds.

This game has four character wrestlers, two of which are Insane Warrior and Golden Hulk from Mat Mania and the others are Dynamite Tommy and Hurricane Joe.

In a two-player game, one player can be Dynamite Tommy and the other can be Hurricane Joe. In a one-player game, you play as Dynamite Tommy (unless you continue as Hurricane Joe from a two-player game) who must defeat the remaining three opponents.

Miscellaneous

LICENSOR: Technos

This game, which is also known as Vs Mania Challenge, was distributed in the US by Memetron. It is a basic copy of Mat Mania, but it adds a player versus player feature.

VAPS Arcade Census

GAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETY

Of these, 2 of them are original dedicated machines, 5 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 16 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Of the 57,098 video games (3,420 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 12 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records.

Wanted - There is one VAPS member currently looking for Mania Challenge.

For Sale - There is one VAPS member with a Mania Challenge machine for sale. There are 1 VAPS members with extra Mania Challenge circuit boards for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts.

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range.

Technical

The PCB set for this game is comprised of two boards. The top board is labeled TA-0017-1 and the bottom board is TA-0015-P1-0 (the same as Mat Mania). The main CPU is a 6502A and the sound processor is a 6809 with a Yamaha YM3526 IC.
