NBA Showtime - NBA On NBC DescriptionA high-flying, arcade-style basketball game that uses real NBA teams and players. The game is officially licensed by the NBC television network.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationThe marquee shows the title in a shaded blue background, along with a 3-D picture of the trademark NBC "peacock" logo. The side panel is similar, except the words NBA Showtime are vertical on the panel.Cheats, Tricks and BugsThere are many hidden players, codes, and courts in this game. The official website, which can be reached through http://www.midway.com/ , lists every code.ConversionThis game uses the same hardware as the NFL Blitz series. It can be converted into any of these games.Game IntroductionThis is the fifth game in the wildly popular NBA Jam/NBA Hangtime series and the fourth from Midway. In this version, the game is presented in three dimensions and is accelerated by 3Dfx hardware. It also has exclusive NBA on NBC sponsorship. Naturally, the game has the NBC feel to it, with all the graphics and sounds used in NBC's NBA coverage. The official NBA license allows over 160 NBA players to be included in the game, 5-7 per team, each with his own ratings and photo.MiscellaneousNBA Jam Extreme is not technically considered a sequel to this game because it was made by Acclaim.VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYCommon - There are 23 known instances of NBA Showtime - NBA On NBC owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 14 of them are original dedicated machines, 6 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 3 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - There is one VAPS member currently looking for NBA Showtime - NBA On NBC. For Sale - There are 2 VAPS members with NBA Showtime - NBA On NBC machines for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaNBA Showtime is the name of NBC's NBA pre-game show. It was also the name of a Sega CD console basketball game released in 1994.Version 1.0 of the game originally featured Dennis Rodman on the Lakers. His hair color was adjustable ... and even changed during halftime on occasions! By the time Version 2.0 was released, which added 1999 rookies, Rodman had been released by L.A., and Midway removed from the Lakers. Among the people with special hidden codes is former all-star guard and NBC broadcaster (now studio analyst) Isiah Thomas. Isiah was part of the initial Jam as a Detroit Piston. He is the only ex-NBA player with a code in Showtime. eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the NBA Showtime - NBA On NBC Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Midway.
