Sega Mega Play DescriptionA cartridge-based multi-game system. Choose one of four games to play from the menu. This system was never released in the United States.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationThe dedicated cabinet uses two monitors. The upper monitor shows information and a 25-inch monitor is used to display the game below. In kit form, the machine can be configured to use just one monitor by inserting only one cartridge. However, multicartridges can be used in a single monitor game, you just will not be able to see a menu of game instructions. The games can be swapped similar to the Neo Geo MVS system.ConversionThe known list of cartridges for the Sega Mega Play are: Sonic The Hedge Hog, Sonic the Hedge Hog 2, Bio Hazard Battle, Mazin Wars, Shinobi 3, Grand Slam (Tennis), Street of Rage 2, Golden Axe 2, Gunstar Heros, Tecmo World Cup.Game IntroductionThe motherboard can host up to four cartridges such as Sonic The Hedgehog. The Mega Play system is the JAMMA version of the Mega Tech system. However, the Mega Play and Mega Tech cartridges are not interchangeable.Game PlayThis system is similar in function to the Nintendo PlayChoice or the Neo Geo MVS.VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYUncommon - There are 7 known instances of Sega Mega Play owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 7 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - We currently do not know of any VAPS members that have gotten around to adding this game to their wish list. The wish-list system is fairly new (not all VAPS members have filled one out) and there are probably a number of collectors who might purchase this game if offered one at the right price. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TechnicalEach cartridge has its own set of DIP switches to independently configure options.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Sega Mega Play Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Sega.
