Description

This game is sometimes identified as being released in 1973, through we have reason to suspect it was created in 1974. Snoopy Pong was the original prototype for Puppy Pong, featuring the famous Peanuts character. Apparently, Atari never asked Charles Schultz if they could make a Snoopy game. Schultz threatened a lawsuit, and only one Snoopy Pong unit was ever developed. It is a table top game, and as a free play machine does not contain a coin mechanism.

Snoopy Pong was produced by Atari in 1973.

Atari released 136 machines in our database under this trade name, starting in 1972.

Other machines made by Atari during the time period Snoopy Pong was produced include: Pong, Doctor Pong, Gotcha, Space Race, Barrel Pong, and Pong Doubles

Trivia

It is believed that only one of these games was ever created due to licensing issues. Later versions were released as Puppy Pong. Even after the cosmetic changes were made to the cabinet, Charles Schultz said the new game still looked too much like Snoopy's dog house. This is the same game as Dr. Pong and Puppy Pong but in a different cabinet.

Cabinet Information

The game is housed in a red Snoopy dog house with Snoopy Pong labeled in white at the bottom. Snoopy is lying on his back on the roof. There is no coin slot since the player simply pushes the start button to begin a game.

Miscellaneous

Due to obvious copyright issues, the game was never released or test marketed.
