Game Introduction

This is one of the growing number of motion capture games in arcades. After inserting your money, you then place your feet at the recommended spots and don your gloves. You then wait for the intro to end, and then off you go to the ring. At the moment, it is only one (1) player, and it is strongly recommended that one one person at a time be on the pad lest the motion capture be messed up by the other body.

Game Play

To play the game, you must be physically fit and mentally aware enough to see punches and know whether to dodge, duck, or swing at the advancing boxer. You must be quick enough to conuter-punch when prompted by the game to do so.

The game works like this: usually a tiff starts with the computer advancing and throwing a punch. If you are lucky, you can stave off the punch with a counter-punch to the head or stomach, but most likely (until you are more familiar with it), you will have to duck or dodge the punch, depending on what the punch may be. Then you will be prompted by the game to punch either at the head or the stomach by a little circle with a number in it. This number shows the amount of punches you need to throw at that spot. There will sometimes be combinations (stomach 3, head 2, stomach 1) that you need to throw, and throw quickly you must, lest the target disappear and the chance to damage your opponent lost. When your opponent's energy is down all the way, you will be notified to either deliver the final punch, or to deliver a series of punches (5 - 50 has thus far been confirmed) and then the final punch.

You get three KOs (knock outs) per "life". Each time your energy goes down to zero, you get knocked down. There is nothing you can do to get up faster, so do not bother. On your third KO you are given a change to insert more money.

There are six bouts. The first bout is a training bout of sorts, to see if you can get the game down enough to compete. The opponent will swing, and if you get hit, the punch will stop just before it hits you, and the game will tell you to dodge or duck, and then to punch the appropriate spot x number of times. You will only get two such "grace" punches before he gets nasty and will hit you with no reserve.

Let this be known: you must put yourself into the game to be competent in it. If you waffle about how much to dodge, you will probably get smoked. You need to get into the game. Look for punches, and put some speed on delivery. Not many people seem to understand this!

You have to press the buttons also before each round in order to fight the special characters. They also get harder and harder which each round.

Trivia

The "MoCap" in the title is short for "Motion Capture." This game also features an onscreen system that tells you how many calories you burned while playing the game!

Cabinet Information

The prototype cabinet used red plastic grips connected to the game by wires instead of real boxing gloves.
