NARC DescriptionThis is a one- or two-player simultaneous side-scroller. You are a futuristic police officer arresting or obliterating drug dealers, junkies, and attack dogs using machine guns and rocket launchers. There is a horizontal driving phase. The game is very graphically violent.Know anything more about this game? Game IntroductionPlayers walk from one level to the next, blasting and arresting bad guys, and picking up drugs and money for points, which are totalled at the end of each level. In addition, sometimes a special 'Keycard' of a certain color is needed to be found before players can progress to the next section of the level.Game PlayFrom "Vending Times", Nov. 1988:A two-player dedicated upright, 'Narc' takes players through an urban wasteland of drug dealers, smugglers, crazed killers, and desperate bad guys. Armed with machine guns and rocket-bombs, the 'Hit Man' and 'Max Force' characters fight their way through back alleys, abandoned warehouses, and across bridges in a mission to crush the criminal empire known as K.R.A.K. Their ultimate target is the headquarters of the evil mastermind known as 'Mr. Big.' Cooperative play places both players on the side of justices with a powerful anti-drug theme. VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYCommon - There are 33 known instances of NARC owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 25 of them are original dedicated machines, it is a conversion in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 7 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - There are 5 VAPS members currently looking for NARC. For Sale - There are 5 VAPS members with NARC machines for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaDesigned by Eugene Jarvis, the mind behind such Williams' hits as Robotron and Defender. The game served as Williams' re-entry into the arcade industry. NARC was the first arcade game to use a 32-bit processor, the TI 34010. One of the designers is the guy in the long black leather coat. The second player character was part of Acclaim's (the company made the NES version of NARC) 'Power Team' along with Tyrone (Arch Rivals), Kuros (Wizards and Warriors/Ironsword), Bigfoot (the monster truck) and Kwirk, the tomato, in an animated series featuring the characters. Three of the NARC bosses -- Mr. Big, Dr. Spike Rush and Joe Rockhead -- were the villains on the series. eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the NARC Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Williams.
