Rally-X DescriptionYou control a small car running around in a maze. There are of course the obvious "bad guys", namely other cars that try to force an accident with you. While you try to dodge the other cars (and there's more of them in each level!) you have to collect the ten yellow flags to get more points. There's also a timer and a fuel gauge to take into account.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationThe full-sized game is housed in a cream-colored cabinet with the two front edges painted orange. The sides of the cabinet have adhesive decals of a man in his race car, puffing out smokescreen, zooming past some trees. The marquee and kick panel decal have the same art as the side decals. The monitor bezel features a pink path going through a green plain. The instructions are on the right side of the overlay. The control panel has the controls on a green background with the pink road from the overlay. A race car appears on the left side, and has the same race car over the 1-player start button. Two race cars appear over the two-player start button. The cabaret version of the game features woodgrain sides with no decals, black trim, a smaller backlit marquee, and a smaller control panel with front facing, simple decal of a stylized helmeted man in a race car, with a radar dish behind his head. The cabaret version uses a 13-inch monitor. ConversionThis game can be converted to New Rally-X by replacing the marquee, monitor bezel, control panel, and PCB.Game IntroductionA radar screen shows the location of your car, the other enemy cars and the flags. The score for picking up flags increases starting at 100 points. Collecting the flashing special flag visible on the radar awards a 2x bonus for the remaining flags. Avoid randomly placed rocks and use smoke to stop enemy cars for short periods of time. However, using smoke costs fuel. Every third round, the enemy cars do not move unless your fuel runs out.Game PlayThe player moves his car around the maze, avoiding several red cars that chase the player. The object is to collect ten yellow flags that are in the maze. The player can temporarily stun the red cars with its smokescreen. Every third round, the player must move around the maze collecting the flags before fuel runs out, and the cars start to move.MiscellaneousBOOTLEG: Hot RaceLICENSOR: Namco There was also a version released directly by Namco. VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYVery Common - There are 67 known instances of Rally-X owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 46 of them are original dedicated machines, it is a conversion in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 20 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - There are 3 VAPS members currently looking for Rally-X. There is one VAPS member looking for a Rally-X circuit board set. For Sale - There are 4 VAPS members with Rally-X machines for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TechnicalThe game uses a Z80 microprocessor and a Namco 3-channel PSG for sounds.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Rally-X Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Midway.
