Baby Pac-Man DescriptionBaby Pac-Man avoids ghosts and eats his way through a maze devoid of power pellets. These power-ups can only be earned by dropping into the pinball section. When a ball drains in the pinball section, play returns to the video mode.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationThe cabinet is solid yellow and there are stickers of Baby Pac-Man on both sides.Game IntroductionThis was the first video/pinball combo game from Bally (Granny and the Gators being the second). In the video mode, you control Baby Pac-Man in a familiar Pac-Man like maze, gobbling dots and fruit while avoiding ghosts that are very smart and very fast. The red ghost actually moves faster than Baby Pac-Man. The first thing the seasoned Pac-Man player notices is that there are no power pellets initially on the screen! The player must earn power pellets by exiting to the pinball section. In the pinball section, the player can advance the fruit that is displayed on the level, increase the speed of Baby Pac-Man as he runs through the two side exits and, most importantly, earn power pellets (one to four) by spelling "PacMan" or hitting the loop ball that resides behind the drop targets at the top of the playfield. MiscellaneousPRODUCTION: approximately 7000 units.VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYVery Common - There are 91 known instances of Baby Pac-Man owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 90 of them are original dedicated machines, and it is a set of circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - Very Popular - There are 12 VAPS members currently looking for Baby Pac-Man. For Sale - There are 3 VAPS members with Baby Pac-Man machines for sale. There is one VAPS member with an extra Baby Pac-Man circuit board for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TechnicalUses a standard Bally Pinball MPU controller (used in other machines at the time) with a 6800 CPU. The other two boards are a combined lamp/solenoid driver board and the video game board (dubbed "Vidiot") that runs the video game portion. The video game board uses a 6800 for sound and a custom 9924(??) CPU chip for the video.FixesThis game is notorious for problems in communication between the video section and the pinball section. Cleaning the connector pins with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol is generally a good first attempt at a fix.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Baby Pac-Man Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Bally Midway.
