Battletoads DescriptionCartoon-like toads, named Pimple, Zitz, and Rash, beat up rats and other mean critters on ther way to stopping the evil Dark Queen. Each toad has his own unique attacks and super-moves. A quarter-pumper with great sound and graphics.Know anything more about this game? Cheats, Tricks and BugsAfter you knock down an enemy, you can finish him off quickly if you walk up to him while he's down, then push down and attack. Your character will smash the enemy, or drill into his head, depending on which toad you are.Game IntroductionThey were once ordinary joes, but a crazy turn of events has turned Morgan, Dave, and George into the Battletoads, bad bad and crazy dudes out to save an alternate universe from the Dark Queen and her nigh-invincible forces.Game PlayYou can choose from any of the three Toads: Rash (a lean and fast fighter), Zitz (a smart and balanced toad), or Pimple (a big, bad powerhouse). Each has his own fighting style as well as his own repertoire of big-time Smash Hits that will be used to eliminate enemies. This game can appear to be just a beat-'em-up at first, but almost every level is different. Some levels are two and a half dimensional, like Double Dragon, and others are just two dimentional, giving you the ability to duck. One level has you hovering down a tunnel with a jet pack. On the last level, you ride in a hovering cruiser and fire at enemies with four different types of guns and a special weapon. At various points in the stages, flies will appear. Just face them and attack, and your toad will snake out with his tongue and gobble them up to help regain lost health. MiscellaneousLICENSOR: Electronic ArtsVAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYCommon - There are 26 known instances of Battletoads owned by one of our 3,650 members who participate in our machine census project. Of these, 2 of them are original dedicated machines, 2 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 22 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - There are 3 VAPS members currently looking for Battletoads. There are 2 VAPS members looking for Battletoads board sets. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TechnicalThe game can be set up for two or three players by using a DIP switch. Stereo or Mono sound can also be selected through a DIP switch. A service switch can be wired from the JAMMA connector that allows you to change the game settings without using the DIP switches. For stereo sound, the other speaker is wired from JAMMA pin #11. The game can be set for blood or no blood by using a DIP switch.Battletoads is one of the few arcade games to feature the TMS34020 CPU (Revolution X is probably the only other to date). Also, it interestingly features the BSMT2000, a Data East digital sound chip used primarily in pinball machines. FixesThe manual says that DIP switch 2 should be set on for stereo and off for mono, but this is backwards. If only one speaker is connected and DIP switch 2 is off, only half of the sounds will be heard.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Battletoads Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Rare Coin Games, Inc..
