Joust 2: Survival Of The Fittest DescriptionSequel to 1982's Joust. The game involves the same basic play techniques, but with some additional twists. The player is able to switch between ostrich and pegasus mounts using the "transform" button and a variety of new enemies and background environments are presented.Know anything more about this game? Cabinet InformationSimilar in basic design to the original Joust. Joust 2 has stencil-type painted side-art, depicting a knight mounted on an ostrich. Eggs and lightning bolts adorn the monitor bezel art, and the control panel is a colorful combination of yellow, purple and light blue, illustrating the transformation of an ostrich into a pegasus.ConversionAn update of the classic William's hardware (Joust, Robotron: 2084, Sinistar, Bubbles). The boardset is nearly identical to Inferno, Mystic Marathon and Turkey Shoot. The PCB can be converted to run Inferno by adding a couple of RAM ICs, swapping in a new set of ROMs and moving a few jumpers.Game IntroductionAs with the prequel, two players can play this game simultaneously, adding a great deal of extra enjoyment (some levels "require" cooperative team play, others reward competition).Major differences from the original include:

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TriviaThe production run has been estimated at 500 to 1000, but one source has claimed 1080. In general, because they came on the market late and disappeared soon after, they can frequently be found in excellent condition.eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Joust 2: Survival Of The Fittest Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Williams.
