Cabinet InformationThe side art features Eddy Gordo and Hwoarang.ConversionThis game can be converted into other Namco's System 12 games like Soul Calibur.Game Introduction19 years have passed since Heihachi Mishima killed Kazuya Mishima and took back control of the Mishima Zaibatsu at "The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2". A mysterius being called Ogre has been attacking various fighters from around the world. In order to lure Ogre into the open and capture him Heihachi annouces "The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3". Players choose from one of 18 fighters and attempt to win the tournament and defeat Ogre. After defeating seven other fighters you move on to face Heihachi at the 8th stage, then Ogre himself on the final stage. All of the characters have a reason for entering. Some, like Hwoarang and Jin, want revenge against Ogre. Others, like Forest Law and Paul enter for glory.Game PlayA basic 3-D fighting game. Players use standard moves such as throws and special kicks to deplete their opponent's life bar. Experienced players can use techniques such as juggle combos.MiscellaneousOnly ten characters are available when a machine is turned on for the first time. After a certain period of time more characters will be unlocked until all 18 are playable.VAPS Arcade CensusGAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETYVery Common - There are 57 known instances of Tekken 3 owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 7 of them are original dedicated machines, 12 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 38 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired. Wanted - We currently do not know of any VAPS members that have gotten around to adding this game to their wish list. The wish-list system is fairly new (not all VAPS members have filled one out) and there are probably a number of collectors who might purchase this game if offered one at the right price. For Sale - There are 4 VAPS members with Tekken 3 machines for sale. There are 4 VAPS members with extra Tekken 3 circuit boards for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range. TechnicalThis was the first game to use Namco's System 12 board. The PCB does not have any DIP switches. Instead, a game configuration screen appears after pressing the Test button on the board set.TriviaThis is the first Tekken game to feature 3-D backgrounds. Some of the characters (Law, Julia, Kuma, Jin) are actually the offspring of characters from Tekken and Tekken 2. eBay ListingsClick here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for the Tekken 3 Videogame machine and items related to it.Click here to automatically search eBay's Arcade, Jukebox, and Pinball categories for machines and parts made by Namco.
