Cabinet Information

The game was released as a conversion kit only.

Game Introduction

Two years after "The King of Iron Fist 3" Heihachi Mishima must set up a fourth tournament when he discovers his son, Kazuya Mishima, has been brought back to life. Players choose from 19 characters and attempt to win the tournament. After defeating seven other fighters they go on to the finals and face Heihachi Mishima himself. All of the warriors have a reason for entering. Some, like Violet and Yoshimitsu, want to end Heihachi's reign as leader of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Others, like Nina and King, have a personal issue with another fighter they want to settle.

Game Play

A basic 3-D fighting game. Players use standard moves such as throws and special kicks to deplete their opponent's life bar. Experienced players can use techniques such as juggle combos.

Miscellaneous

Only ten characters are available when a machine is turned on for the first time. After a certain period of time more characters will be unlocked until all 19 are playable.

VAPS Arcade Census

GAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETY

Common - There are 25 known instances of Tekken 4 owned by one of our 900 members. Of these, 8 of them are original dedicated machines, 4 of them are conversions in which game circuit boards (and possibly cabinet graphics) have been placed in (and on) another game cabinet, and 13 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Of the 57,098 video games (3,420 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 5 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records.

Wanted - There are 3 VAPS members currently looking for Tekken 4.

For Sale - There are 3 VAPS members with Tekken 4 machines for sale. VAPS members are totally independent of VAPS and the International Arcade Museum, and we are unable to recommend, endorce, or guarantee any person or company selling games or game parts.

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range.

Technical

This game runs on the Namco System 246 hardware, which is based on the Playstation 2 console.

Trivia

Violet is actually Lee Chaolan (from Tekken, Tekken 2 and Tekken Tag Tournament) in disguise.

The music in the statue stage is taken from Tekken 2.
